The May Center School nursing team provides top quality nursing care to our students. Our primary nurses have individual caseloads consisting of both day and residential students. They also serve as a resource to our parents and guardians.
During the weekdays, day and residential students receive their daily care and medications from our primary day nurses. In the evenings, overnight, and on weekends, residential staff members, trained in medication administration by our nursing team, are responsible for medication management. A nurse is always on call 24 hours a day for any emergency concerns. All staff members are trained in CPR and First Aid, and our nurses supervise direct care staff in the administration of routine healthcare.
Our nursing team provides trainings for students, staff, and the families we serve. They teach day and residential students about diet, exercise, medications, and general health issues. They also offer annual flu clinics for students and staff. In addition, the nursing team provides in-services at the group homes on a monthly basis, and helps with students’ medical appointments as needed.
Our nurses also provide care to students who are ill. When specialized services are required, they work with families to ensure that necessary information and support are provided to the students and appropriate healthcare professionals.
